War Memorial

Grosse Pointe, MI

Wedding Videography at War Memorial

War Memorial sits on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where the former Horace Dodge estate grounds extend to the water's edge and the open expanse of the lake fills the eastern horizon. The property's history as one of Detroit's great automotive-era estates gives it a gravitas and architectural character that purpose-built event centers cannot replicate. The manor house, carriage house, and lakefront terrace spaces carry the proportions and detailing of a genuine early twentieth-century estate, and for wedding cinematography this built-in elegance is immediately apparent in every frame of coverage from arrival through reception.

Lake St. Clair is a remarkably beautiful body of water, smaller and more intimate than the Great Lakes proper but with the same quality of open-water light that makes lakefront venues in this region so valuable for outdoor wedding film. The lake's surface reflects the Michigan sky throughout the day, filling terrace and lawn spaces with diffused, bounced light that eliminates harsh shadows and gives subjects a naturally flattering illumination. At sunset, the western sky above Grosse Pointe turns the Lake St. Clair surface to gold, producing outdoor footage of quiet, lasting beauty that rewards a wedding videographer's patience.

For couples who want a Detroit-area wedding film with genuine architectural heritage, automotive-era estate grandeur, and lakefront beauty in a single property, War Memorial is a setting of real and lasting distinction. Film House Weddings is a huge fan of War Memorial and would be honored to capture your celebration here on the shores of Lake St. Clair.

Every Film House Weddings package is custom built for the couple, the venue, and the wedding day. Reach out through our Connect page and we will build a proposal tailored to your wedding.

How far in advance should we book?

We recommend 9 to 18 months for peak season (May through October).

What is included in a wedding film package?

We build a custom package for every couple based on your vision and your wedding day. Typically, every client receives a 5 to 7 minute cinematic wedding film and a reel. Our team works directly with your planner and photographer to ensure seamless coverage from getting ready through the last dance.

Do you work with our photographer and wedding planner?

Absolutely. Coordination with your vendor team is a core part of our process. We work directly with your planner and photographer before and during the wedding day to make sure everyone is in sync and no moment is missed.

Do you offer drone videography?

Yes. Drone coverage is available as an add-on, coordinated with local airspace rules and any venue restrictions.

How long until we receive our wedding film?

Delivery timelines are discussed during the proposal stage and depend on the season and edit scope. Expedited delivery is available if you need your film sooner. Let us know during the booking conversation and we will build a timeline that works for you. Final films are delivered digitally via a private link.

Do you provide raw footage?

Raw footage is available on request as an add-on. Most couples do not request it, since our edited cinematic film, reel, and optional full ceremony and speeches edit capture everything that matters. If raw footage is important to you, let us know during the proposal conversation and we will include it in your custom package.

Will you provide a second shooter?

Our standard package is filmed by a two-person team. Additional shooters are available as an add-on.
